Oceans Ate Alaska Release Video For ‘Escapist’

Midlands metalcore outfit Oceans Ate Alaska have announced the upcoming release of their next album Hikari, due out July 28th via Fearless Records. This will be the first release with Jake Noakes fulfilling vocal duties since his addition earlier this year. Hikari translates to ‘light’ in English, reflecting the band’s current mindset and highlighting major strides in the group’s sonic vocabulary. With a lyrical and musical theme rooted in Samurai mythology, the 11-track album blends traditional Japanese instruments with Oceans Ate Alaska‘s dynamic flare.

“We have a huge amount of respect for Japanese culture, especially their music, these unique and beautiful instruments have inspired us to create something brand new, and we are beyond proud of the end result!” – Chris Turner, drums

Comeback Kid Join Nuclear Blast

Canada’s own Comeback Kid have recently inked a new deal with the Nuclear Blast family, having recently been working on the follow up to Die Knowing the first single Absolute off of their as yet untitled album is available to check out and features vocals from Devin Townsend at this link from Noisey.

“We are ecstatic to be signing with Nuclear Blast. A label that has been running for 30 years and home to some of hardcore and metal’s most integral acts. Like COMEBACK KID, Nuclear Blast is a label that focuses it’s energy globally as they have offices all over the world. That is really exciting for us as a band that prides itself on playing in as many corners of the earth as possible.
Here in Canada we are joining up with long-time friends at New Damage/Dine Alone. We have worked closely with them before so we know it will be a great fit and fresh start in our home country.
Our new album is going to be the most diverse and interesting record yet in my opinion. There are a few collaborations and we stepped outside of our box and out of our comfort zone a lot on this one. I’ve worked with Devin Townsend on another project before so to have him sing on “Absolute” was awesome for us. I was conjuring up his vocal style anyways when laying down the guide vocals before we knew he was on board for the song. When we asked him to be a part of it he was open and willing so we thank him for that. He definitely put his unique stamp on it.

On to the next chapter for COMEBACK KID with a new team to help us share our music. We will be starting a new cycle of touring around the world starting this summer. Can’t wait to share what we have been working on.” –
Andrew Neufeld (vocals).

CKY Reveal ‘Replaceable’

American rockers CKY have unveiled their latest single Replaceable from upcoming release The Phoenix out on June 16, 2017 via SPV / Longbranch. This marks the bands first release since 2009 and they have a packed summer of touring ahead of them, complete with a stint on Warped Tour.

“Replaceable is a rockin track. F*cking solid, I would  say it is generally about anyone that gets in your way, holds you back or slows your potential with their own blatant insecurity, fears or sickness. Individuals that you are ultimately and knowingly covering for as they selfishly sabotage you. And then realizing how much better you can be without any losers or life suckers as obstacles. Rock n roll power. Onward. Strength from within.”
” –
Chad I Ginsburg (vocals/guitar).
