Slay Duggee are a band described as the “Lords of Toddler metal”. Their mission statement is to take kids songs and TV show themes and turn them into metal tracks.
The band have launched a kickstarter campaign for their debut album. Pledges include CD’s, T-Shirts and stickers but also include a 20ft inflatable heavy metal wavy arm tube guy, a family dinner in the rainforest cafe with the band, the ability to record a guest duck quack vocal and even the ability to join Slay Duggee as the band’s fifth member. The kickstarter link is here.
The band was formed in January 2018 and only 48 hours after their first single Stick was played on BBC Radio 6 by Steve Lamacq.
The band have since collaborated with both TesseracT guitarist James Monteith and Nekrogoblikon’s vocalist Nicky “Scorpion” Calonne on a cover of the Lego Movie’s Everything Is Awesome.
The band have just released their new track I Am A Shape, check it out below.
The new album will include their previous singles; Stick, Sarah & Duck, Go Jetters, The Sea And The Sky and Everything Is Awesome. It will also include around 10 unreleased tracks with songs such as the themes from popular CBeebies shows Octonauts and Something Special.
Drummer Black Shuck states: “It’s vital that the children of the world receive the correct musical upbringing. This album will be a key educational tool for any responsible parent.”
Singer Ricky Bow-Wow commented: “Let’s face it…the music readily available to kids is awful… We are trying to make it easier for parents with heavier tastes in music to enjoy the music they have to listen to on a daily basis. People have demonised heavy music for decades and it’s never going to be mainstream, but we’re here to ruffle some feathers, make a noise, and let kids have a choice.”
