After recently announcing their Royal Albert Hall shows, Alter Bridge are back with another announcement. This time its a full European tour, dubbed The Last Hero Tour. Beginning in Paris, the band head across the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. The setlists on this tour will vary greatly from the tracks they played during their summer shows, so this will be a very different experience from their recent shows.
And here we are, the final day of Download 2017. With the previous two days providing plenty of highlights the Sunday remained the busiest day for a lot of people. So we had to prepare ourselves before diving headfirst into the last day of the best weekend of the year.
After a triumphant return to the stage at rock festival Download, Alter Bridge have announced two very special shows on October 2nd and 3rd at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The set will consist of never before played songs, fan favourites, as well as the band being accompanied by the Parallax Orchestra. Tickets for these shows go on-sale at 10am on Friday 16th June from Livenation and Royal Albert Hall.
On September 8th via Nepalm Records the band will release their album Live At The O2 + Rarities which was recorded on November 24th 2016. Check out the trailer below:
If you like the sounds of bands such as Foo Fighters and Kings Of Leon, then you will definitely feel yourself being drawn towards the sounds of Celeb Car Crash. They have that alternative rock power mixed with a strong hard rock flavour to create something that might not sound new, but definitely sounds solid.
Their main punches come from the guitar and bass tone that comes through soundly on each track. Whether it goes for the full out with the low end bounce or it goes to focus on the chord progression in some of the choruses, it heightens the records senses a whole lot, especially when you hear the bass come through nice and tightly when it gets the chance to. From the simple sounds of ‘January’ which sounds like it was perfectly designed for headbanging and brings something more southern along with it to the more flavoured stylings of ‘The Whereabouts’ giving you that Stone Temple Pilots feel from start to finish, this record is a throw back to the 90’s alternative rock/grunge scene in a big way.
The vocals that pierce through the record work really nicely with every single track. Giving off a sound that would match Pearl Jam and Alter Bridge within the tone that he provides, tracks like ‘Hangin’ On A Rope’ have a certain tenacity brought along with it to give it such a great listen to. The last track takes the pace somewhere the record hasn’t been before, with the organ/piano intro taking the album on a very different close. The guitar goes through a clean sound and the whole track is one of the definitive highlights of the record. With a far too long silence near the end of the record before the final piano section, this record is a nice calming end to a very enjoyable record.
For those who are looking for something that reminds them of the artists mentioned, then this record should be treated as a ‘blast to the past’ for the modern age. Celeb Car Crash have pinpointed their sound and are using it to their advantage.
After their massive success with the critically acclaimed Fortress back in 2013, Alter Bridge are back. Their follow up album The Last Hero is everything you want it to be and then some. Powerful, soul touching vocals matched with impressive riffs and emotive themes makes this album simply brilliant.
The opening track Show Me A Leader has over a minute and a half of instrumental introduction that cultivates and sets up for an epic five-minute track. The pure genius of this piece raises any expectancy and sets the bar extremely high for the rest of the album. It takes on elements of classic rock and thrusts them into the modern music scene. Certainly a good choice to start this album with.
There are a couple of standout tracks on this record, the first being My Champion. This song is a voyage to discover/remember what makes a great rock anthem. The lyrics send you on an expedition of self-empowerment and focus. “The world’s gonna try and knock you out, just pick yourself up when you go down. You’ve gotta keep fighting and get back up again, my champion.”
Another highlight of the album is You Will Be Remembered. This one is impossible not to sing along to at the top of your lungs. There is just something about this song where the guitars, vocals, bass and drums all complement each other fantastically well. Every layer displays the rock genre at its finest establishing a moving and passionate track. It also includes one of the albums best, most face numbing guitar solos.
The record ends with the title track The Last Hero. This is a piece that flawlessly rounds up an excellent album. The most impressive component to this track is the guitar composition. The riffs and chord progression keeps the listener hooked on every bar throughout. The heights and depth that are reached by the outstanding guitar work in this track cannot be ignored. The overall product of this song enables the album to finish on a well-deserved high and ties a neat bow on top of Alter Bridge’s musical present to the world.
The Last Hero is a huge step up from their last album and thrusts Alter Bridge into a whole new league. Although Fortress was a very good album, this record breaks through onto a level that was not expected. Every single track is a masterpiece in its own right and each has something different to offer than the one before. The end product of this album portrays hard work, dedication and pure talent. So, for epic introductions, commanding vocals and just good rock music, put the rood down on your car and sit back to this influential piece of art.
The Last Hero will be released on October 7th. Check out the opening track and first single from the album, Show Me A Leader below.
Alter Bridge have revealed their video for Show Me A Leader, the lead track from forthcoming fifth studio album, The Last Hero, set for release via Napalm Records on 7th October.
The video is based on a concept created by Alter Bridge together with director Zev Deans that brings life to the story told in the single’s lyrics. The animated video shows the world in turmoil as politicians (represented by suits with megaphone heads) broadcast negative messages to the people. The visually arresting video showcases Deans’ unique creative style, something the band members were immediately drawn to.
‘The Last Hero’ was produced by longtime friend and collaborator Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette (Slash, Tremonti, Trivium) and mastered by Grammy award winner Ted Jensen.
